My First Approved CrowdTap Sample Application: Revlon ColorStay Bundle & Super Length Mascara

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Crowdtap is one of my favorite platforms in getting free stuff. I've got a long list of sites where I get my free products or samples, but I can tell you that Crowtap would be in number 1. I have only been a member for about a month, but I already earned $20 Amazon gift cards and was approved for two fantastic sample applications.  Today, I would love to share with you the first free full-sized sample products I've received.

I was fortunate enough to be chosen to try some amazing products from Revlon. I received a total of 5 beauty products complimentary from Crowdtap in exchange for my honest review and opinion.
The products were Colorstay Brow Crayon, ColorStay Brow Pencil, ColorStay 2-In-1 Eyeliner, ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow and the Super Length Mascara.

Revlon ColorStay Brow Crayon in Soft Black
I can say that this was my least favorite among all the Revlon products I received. Due to the huge-crayon-like shape of it and the big tip of the liner (plus the fact that I am still learning this whole new perfect-eyebrow -thing world.), I had a hard time applying it on my eyebrows. It did define and shape my brow but not in one sweep as it claims because the product seems to be a little greasy for me, I had it smudge all over especially when applying it to the edges. One thing to watch out for this product was when you touch it, it smudges easily. It is, however, blendable and because of its unique wax to powder formula, it can stay long in your brows (just remember not to touch it).  I also loved the fact that it is waterproof. You can get it in 4 shades - Blonde, Soft Brown, Dark Brown and Soft Black.

Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil in Soft Black
I love this product better than the Brow Crayon. As I've mentioned, I am a beginner in the 'brow-thing-world,' and this Revlon pencil was just what I needed. It was easy to use and didn't give me a hard time applying it. The angled tip did help me out for precise application, and the brush, on the other hand, was a great help in blending the color to my brow. I love the creamy texture of the brow pencil and the fact that it's waterproof and has a 24-hour lasting formula. It's available in 5 shades - Blonde, Soft Brown, Auburn, Dark Brown and Soft Black.

Revlon ColorStay 2-in-1 Angled Kajal in Onyx
This is one of my favorite from the Revlon Colorstay Bundle. I don't always wear eyeliner, but when I do, it's during special occasions, so I spent time perfecting how to apply it. And this ColorStay Eye Liner from Revlon made that easy for me. It was so easy to use because of it's angled tip and with the help of the smudge brush, I was able to achieve a perfect smokey eye. It does not smudge in my eyes and last long as well. It glides smoothly, and you can easily control how thick or thin you want your liner to be. It's also good to know that it is ophthalmologist tested and safe for use on waterline. It's available in 4 sturdy shades - Onyx, Fig, Evergreen, and Graphite.

Revlon Colorstay Creme Shadow in #720 (Chocolate)
I don't usually use eyeshadow especially the powder ones because my eyes are sensitive and can get easily irritated. However, this creme eyeshadow did not give me that irritation. I love how the color looks in my eyes - simple but classy with a matte finish. The packaging design was neat and cute, and I love how it has a built in tiny brush in the bottom. It's pretty pigmented, easy to use, so smooth, waterproof and long lasting. It's available in 4 unique finishes - metallic, matte, pearl and satin. It's also available in 12 stunning shades.

Revlon Super Length Mascara in Blackest Black
I rarely use mascara, so I was thrilled to try this product upon knowing that it has a luscious lengthening formula. Using the long bristles, it glides smoothly in my lashes, and the tapered tip was helpful in coating my smaller lashes. The only thing I do not like about this product is that it won't keep my lashes curled. But overall, I like this product. It's very light and easy to apply, leaving you with a natural look without leaving black spots under your eyes. It has 4 shades - Blackest Black, Black, Blackened Brown, Blackest Black Waterproof.

Using these products altogether, I was able to pull out a fierce and bold look. Keep in mind that I am just starting my makeup journey and a total beginner created this look with the help of Revlon ColorStay Bundle and Super Lenght Mascara.

Have you tried any of these Revlon ColorStay products and Super Length Mascara? What are your favorites?

Review: Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor™

Sunday, April 16, 2017

I've always been a lover of Matte Lipsticks, but when I was given a chance to try these Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor, I fell in love!
Personally, lipstick is the only makeup I can't go without. Having a problematic, acne-prone face, I am usually afraid of trying anything but lipstick. Having said that, I am also picky in choosing what to put on my lips. Recently, I was fortunate enough to be selected by Crowdtap to try these Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor in exchange for my honest review and feedback.

I received 3 amazing lip colors: Sand (#700), Rhubarb (#745), and Vineyard (#760). Just by looking at their packaging, I know that Rhubarb would be my favorite among them since I always consider bright reds as my color. But all these colors are definitely shades I will use for every occasion.

I like their simple packaging and the fact that the tube's color is more or less matches the color of the product. It makes you easier to grab the color you like from the pile of lipstick you may have. Moreover, I like the slanted tip that makes it easy for a precise application. It has a sweet and fruity scent that people with a sensitive sense of smell won't like, but it doesn't bother me that much. It smells good!

Sand - Rhubarb - Vineyard Swatches.

SAND

I am not a fan of nude shades, but this Sand color from Revlon was an exception. I love the look of it on my lips, unlike the other nude shades I've tried before that made me look like a sick person. I can wear this every day and just by completing some of my day to day errands.

VINEYARD

I also love this berry-like pink color on my lips. It made me look younger and radiant. This color is perfect for a casual date night and simple party night outs with family and friends. This is now officially my second favorite color among the three.

RHUBARB

As I have already mentioned, I consider bright red as my color, and when I asked my husband what's his favorite for me among the three colors I have, he picked this one too. This color makes me feel fierce and more comfortable. Definitely a favorite!

Nude 'Sand,' Sweet 'Vineyard' and Rocking 'Rhubarb' look.

OVERALL VERDICT

What can I say? I am super impressed! Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor is lightweight, hydrating and pigmented. Being known to have hyaluronic acid, it gives an ultra hydrating formula for the lips. It's comfortable to wear without that sticky feel that I hate with glossy lipsticks. It swipes smoothly on the lips but has the tendency to glide outside your lips, so it's better to use it with a lip liner.  The lipstick is not transfer proof which is understandable with this kind of formulation. It stays on your lips for quite a good while but not too long, but it's always easy to re-apply. Overall, they look and feel good on the lips!

Have you tried any of these? What is your favorite color?

My First e.l.f. Cosmetics Beauty Kit

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Recently, I've bought few items from e.l.f cosmetics to replenish my makeup box. Generally speaking, I do not use make up a lot because I have sensitive skin and cannot figure out yet what products suit me. However, I put makeup occasionally, on a date or when invited to a party.

I am a huge user of lipstick (especially Matte ones) because I think that's the only makeup that does not irritate me. I also use eyebrow liner often just to add some life to my face and make my eyebrow look decent.😁

I bought three products from e.l.f's website:  The Tinted Moisturizer in Nude, Matte Lip Color in Tea Rose and the Light Gel and Powder Eyebrow Kit. I was excited to use them all and I will share my two cents about these products.

Tinted Moisturizer (with SPF 20 Sunscreen, Cucumber, A, C, & E)

Claims:
- lightweight and hydrating
- anti-aging sun protections with UVA/UVB SPF 20
- even out skin tone
- enhances complexion

This product is available in 5 shades (Ivory, Porcelain, Nude, Beige & Almond) for any skin tone. Being a beginner in the world of glam and makeups, I don't really know what shades suits my skin tone, so just by seeing how the color looks like in the website, I chose the Nude shade, which was actually for fair to light skin tone (I have a neutral skin tone, medium dark). Anyway, I still use it and when I applied it on my skin, it's not obvious, as if I am wearing nothing and it looks just fine on my face. It evens out the skin tone, enhanced my complexion and moisturized my face well, true to its claims. However, if you are looking for a full coverage moisturizer, you may want to try some other moisturizer because this one is only good as a light coverage. You can wear it alone or wear over a face primer for more covered blemishes, dark spots or pimples. As you can see in the left photo, I am wearing it alone; hence, it still shows my pimples and dark spots. On the right-hand photo, I was wearing it over a CC cream that gives me a more flawless look. It doesn't have any strong smell (although some may have a sensitive nose) which I like about it. Being in a sunny state, I felt that this moisturizer doesn't last long under extreme sun exposure, but it does stay for a reasonable amount of time.

I don't know if it's obvious in these photos, but in the left picture, some of my dark spots are still visible (sorry for the low-quality pictures).

The only thing I don't like about this moisturizer was its cream-like texture which was a little sticky and doesn't glide smoothly on my face, thus made it difficult to apply and even it out. But overall, this one was a good buy for me, knowing the brand name and the affordable price.

Matte Lip Color in Tea Rose

Claims:
- exact color application
- hydrates lips
- pigmented
- glides effortlessly and smoothly
- long-lasting matte color

I messed up in choosing this color. The tea rose made me look pale and sick.😆I usually buy bright red colors but wanted to try a lighter shade this time, but I guess, it doesn't suit me. This lip color is available in 13 shades for different skin tones. Aside from the epic-fail color that I chose, I love this lip color.  It glides so smoothly on my lips, it's creamy and pigmented but gives a matte finish. This lip color doesn't stay longer as I expected and it is not transfer proof as well, but it's easy to put another coat on your lips when it's fading away. It comes with a small sharpener at the bottom which is perfect if you want your lip color to be pointy or just want it to look like new. I will personally buy this again but will choose a darker shade, which, I think looks good on me. Good product for a $3 price!

Gel and Powder Eyebrow Kit

Claims:
- creates fuller, thicker and more defined brows
- pigmented wax
- provides a lasting color definition

Add caption

Sorry if I messed up applying the eyebrow kit, I am totally a beginner!

This kit has a small mirror and a double-sided Taklon brush inside (which is pretty small and sometimes hard to work with), one side to help you arch your brows while the other side aids in filling them in. It was good for a beginner like me. I got the light shade, but I should've gotten a darker shade, so I think I end up using a lot more of this product than I should. It was my first time using a gel/powder for my eyebrows, so it was hard for me to apply it at first, plus I don't have a real eyebrow to start with hahaha😆. I've tried using an eyebrow stencil and then it made it easier for me to apply it. If I can learn to put it correctly in my eyebrow, I think this would be a fabulous addition to my makeup routine, which is just lipstick.😅😆😊😁😀

Overall, I like the products! I am currently on my little journey of discovering cosmetics and perfectly applying it on my face, so expect more beauty product reviews from me!

My Proactiv Experience and Review

Monday, March 13, 2017

When I was younger, I barely get pimples. However, when I got older, I started having breakouts. I tried different facial washes and acne solutions but nothing seems to work. I got really frustrated.

One day my loving husband (who always tells me that I am still beautiful even with many pimples), suggested this product called Proactiv. That day, I started researching about it. I find it interesting and within my budget. I ordered the Proactiv 30-Day, 3-Step System online for $19.95 + $5.99 SF = $25.94. Take note that once you ordered it online, you will be automatically signed up in their subscription program that will send another package that will be a larger 90-day supply replenishment approximately every 12 weeks (I think that's the standard, but you can change the frequency of your product shipment up to 20 weeks) and it will cost you $68.82 including shipping fee, but the cost would be billed in 3 convenient payments which would be $22.94 approximately every 4 weeks (yeah, it's kinda pricey, but believe me, it's worth it, at least for me).

My 30-day, 3-step Proactiv Kit with a free traveler kit &sample size of Green Tea Moisturizer

Okay, going back to the start, when I received my first box on a Saturday afternoon, I was really excited to use it. But I waited until Monday so I can a have a brand new week of using a new product on my face. I decided to stop putting makeup on my face as well while using the product because I badly wanted to make all the pimples disappear.

I carefully checked everything that came with the box and read the instructions thoroughly. It comes with a welcome letter, a brochure of different Proactiv products that you can buy separately or add to your kit online and a quick start guide on how to use the 3-Step system. It was actually 3 easy steps and all the 3 bottles are numbered 1 - 3 so you won't get lost in the process. It also came with a cute free 3-system travel kit and a sample size of a Green Tea Moisturizer.

Within 2 weeks of using the product I can already see positive results. My husband also noticed that I have lesser pimples and lighter dark spots on my face. However, from time to time, new pimples still appear, specially when I will be having my period but, I can say that the breakouts was not that bad anymore.

My face before using Pro-activ (Sorry for the low quality picture)
To summarize what I like and I don't like with this product:

What I like about it:

  • It works for me.
  • It's easy to use.
  • It has a decent quantity (my kit actually exceeded the 30 days).
  • It's easily available and fast shipping.
  • It doesn't have a strong smell.
What I don't like about it:
  • It's an automatic subscription, which can actually turn out to be really expensive.
  • You can't cancel online, but only thru calling their customer support hotline.
  • It can really dry your skin (so you need to get an additional moisturizer).
  • It can bleach your clothes or face towels.

My face after using Proactiv for 2 weeks.

My final verdict? I'll give this product an 8/10 stars. I loved this product but I hope it can get a little bit more affordable specially for those whose suffering from bad acne that can't afford Proactiv's high price.

My face after using Proactiv for 30 days. Big improvement indeed!
